Inside the Mind of a Juvenile Firesetter
Thursday, August 26, 2010
8:00am-4:00pm
Northeast Indiana Public Safety Academy
7602 Patriot Crossing
Fort Wayne, IN 46816
Join Great KIDS make Great COMMUNITIES, the Allen County Juvenile Firesetters Task Force and lunch sponsor Walden University for a special training that takes a new perspective on the issue of juvenile firesetting, from the perspective of the firesetter, as well as treatment interventions, including recommendations for working with juvenile firesetters who are also the victims of their own fires.
The morning session will feature special guest Tim Peterson. Mr. Peterson, who was convicted of arson in 1989 and currently works with the rehabilitation and re-entry of offenders in Ohio, will share his story of his involvement with fire, the mindset of a serial arsonist, factors that influenced his decisions to set fires, and how he ultimately healed from his experience and was held accountable for his actions. This unique opportunity will provide a rare insight into the mind of a firesetter.
This training is open to anyone interested in the problem of juvenile firesetting. Therapists, counselors, case managers, foster care parents, law enforcement, and fire/ems personnel may find this training especially relevant.
More information, schedule and other trainers for this conference will be announced soon.
