The COVID pandemic worsened the mental health of millions of Americans, including many youth. Now that work, school and other activities are beginning to open back up, we are all scrambling to find a 'new normal'. This presentation will describe COVID's impact on youth mental health and will provide resources and fresh ideas to help our youth transition into a new, 'normal' school year.

- Uncover challenges of getting back to a 'normal' routine
- Learn new tools to heal COVID wounds as we transition to a new normal
Two (2) CEUs will be provided to attendees upon completion of the evaluation.
Presented by:
Alice Jordan-Miles, MS, ED
Alice is the Director of the Behavioral Health and Family Studies Institute and a Retention Specialist for the College of Professional Studies at Purdue Fort Wayne. In addition, she is the Project Director of the Indiana Suicide Prevention Coalition. Alice provides resources and trainings in suicide prevention and mental health first aid to groups, organizations and communities to increase awareness of the importance of mental wellness and to eliminate the stigma in help-seeking behaviors.
Colleen Carpenter, MA, MPH
Colleen provides evidence-based training and targeted consultation to build long term capacity to prevent suicide. Her mission is to help organizations and communities tighten their safety nets so that people who are struggling with suicide and mental health issues are identified and helped. She is the facilitator of STOP Suicide Northeast Indiana and is helping to implement Sources of Strength in schools throughout the region. She has won local and national awards for her work in suicide prevention.
